Bleach: Sennen Kessen-hen – Ketsubetsu-tan Episode 5

Title:Rages at Ringside

Synopsis / Review:

Just when we thought we were being brought up to speed on Soul Society’s current predicament in the opening moments, the shift to a somewhat lighthearted tone a minute or two later wasn’t entirely unexpected. The character of Mask, along with his clown-like persona, aligns perfectly with the very essence of a jester, to be honest. We did witness Mask clashing with Kensei and Rose. Initially, it appeared that the latter duo might gain the upper hand, but this was short-lived as Mask swiftly overpowered them.

Rose’s use of his bankai was undeniably impressive, especially with that operatic flair. Such moments usually build up to a finishing move, yet this time it didn’t conclude matters. Instead, Renji and Rukia finally made their long-awaited entrance, sporting quite the style. Although Rukia’s appearance was brief, Renji took center stage. His fierce battle with Mask was a true spectacle. Renji’s “true” bankai was nothing short of intense, and coupled with the fitting OST in the background, his victory was virtually inevitable.

The irony is not lost on us—two captains couldn’t handle Mask, yet Renji managed to do so single-handedly. But that’s just how things played out.
